Dear People of Melbourne…
January 28, 2008 | Filed in: General, Melbourne, Rant

Dear People of the beautiful city of Melbourne,

I love you - you are the most incredible mix of people I’ve ever seen. However, I have a gripe. You all walk too fucking slow. I’ve got somewhere to go, somewhere to be, and you’re all walking at the speed of a fucking sloth. No wonder I’m nearly always late for work. And no intention of being racist here, but Asians, you are the worst offenders. You’re LIVING here, you’re no longer a tourist, therefore you can walk at a normal pace. The citizenship test needs to include a section on how to fucking walk.

Okay, I feel better now. I love you, Melbourne.

Changes
January 24, 2008 | Filed in: Family, General, Inspirata & The Net, Love, Money

As I’ve already mentioned, I’ve made a few changes around the site. I’ve combined a lot of subpages onto one page for ‘terri‘, and the same with ‘inspirata‘, which cuts down on all the navigation you guys were needing to do. Along with that, I’ve changed subheadings and so forth, to match sections of those pages.

You may have noticed, too, a few links at the side, under ’stuff’…

  • A ‘Donate’ button. Believe it or not, the site does incur some fees some time to time, and if you can afford to, I’d really appreciate if you could donate. I’m not begging, and I won’t be upset if you don’t donate, but it would be awesome if you can afford to. In light of recent events with a friend at Lavish, all funds received will be donated to help Angela until further notice (just read her site, you’ll know what it’s for).
  • Despair.nu links. Yes, I’m giving this commenting thing a shot. I don’t hate the idea - it’s good to get some new visitors (who might become return visitors) - but sometimes the comments can turn out to be rather… ‘because-I-have-to’-ish. I’d love it if the visitors actually read my blog posts.
  • Little hearts (?). These are actually links to social networks I’m joined up on - hover over them to find out which ones they are.
  • D&D GoDaddy Promo Codes. These are FANTASTIC. I listen to a podcast called The Dawn and Drew Show! religiously, and they are sponsored by GoDaddy. In return for promoting GoDaddy, D&D get to share coupon codes for GoDaddy products. Click on the link for more information.
  • Google PageRank indicator. This is pretty self-explanatory. I don’t have a Google Toolbar because Firefox already has a Google search field built-in, so I don’t need it. But, it’s nice to know my PR.

Along with these changes, I’m going to try and blog more. It’s a hard deal, but I’m going to try. I’m aiming for once every 3-4 days. Ever since I moved in with Michael, my blogging dropped, because I finally had someone to share everything that’s going on in my life with (not to mention he’s sharing my life). But, with some help from Jess, I’ve got a few ideas for upcoming entries, and hopefully that will push me on my blogging.

Still under the heading of changes, can you believe that Heath Ledger died? I bawled. I know it’s stupid because I never met the guy, or had any association with him, but that’s the thing with celebrities - you feel you know them. And they seem immortal. This is a huge kick in the ass for me - just goes to show that none of us are invincible, as much as we may think it or feel it, and we all could be here one second and gone the next. I feel stupid for saying it, but I miss him. It’s such a huge loss to the film industry - such a brilliant actor, and with so much more promise. Jess found a beautiful article about him; I find it to be so personal, rather than just factual. Read it here.

Well, I think this is a substantial entry (at least I hope so). I’d love if you guys could leave me some ideas for future blog entries to keep me going!

Sickness, Christmas and Getting Drunk
January 20, 2008 | Filed in: Family, Friends, General, Home, Inspirata & The Net, Love, Mind, Body & Spirit, Rant, Rave, Work

Well I should go from where I left off last time and dribble on a bit more about December 2007. So that I will do.

The weekend following my mum leaving, we had a friend around, and had a few drinks. I got totally shitfaced and, thus, in the morning was extremely sick. This lead to a week of me sitting at home with gastroenteritis. Not pleasant at all, and since we live in close proximity, Michael got it as well. So the two of us were sitting at home all week, unable to go out or do anything, with the fucking gastro. Kind of sucked.

So that was a pretty boring week. I returned to work the following week, and had a discussion with my boss about my leave, since I’d applied for Christmas week and New Year’s week off. Since I was sick, however, all my leave and all my overtime I’d built up had gone. So I therefore had to work the 24th, 27th and 28th December, and take the New Year’s week off without pay. Why? Because we were heading to Tassie for New Year’s.

We left Melbourne at 9:30pm on Sunday 30th December, arriving in Tasmania at around 10:30. My parents were there to pick me up, so we drove back to their place and had a drink or two before heading to bed.

Monday we got up reasonably early, and Mum and I headed down to the shops to get some snacks, bread, etc. for our NYE gathering.  That wasn’t all that interesting, just bought the stuff and went home to start setting stuff up.   My friends Kirsten and Gabby arrived around 7pm, with their boyfriends Lockie and Troy (respectively), and we started off with a couple of drinks as my family and my parents’ friends started arriving.  I also got to meet my little brother Sam’s new girlfriend, Kate, and she’s totally my new best friend, she’s awesome.  Basically it was a big chat-catch up-and-drink fest, so of course I enjoyed a few too many and had a really “happy” New Year’s celebration when the clock finally ticked over.

The rest of the week I’ve kind of forgotten (since I’m writing this nearly a month after the fact - I should have got this done earlier but I’ve been so busy!).  Saturday night we went out with Gabby, Kirsten, Troy and Lockie to a niteclub and had a few drinks and a dance there, and I woke up about 4am and puked because I’d mixed my 6 Vodka Cruisers with 2-3 Jim Beam and Cokes (although both drinks were spread out over 7 hours, which I’m normally fine with - maybe it was the dancing).

We headed home back to Melbourne on the Sunday night, which was really depressing because you’d think it would get easier saying goodbye so often but it really just gets harder and harder each time.  I miss my mum, dad, my little brother and his GF, and of course my puppy dog.  But it’s nice to come home and see my kitty and my fish.

Speaking of which, I got so mad when I found this out.  My sister-in-law and her husband were meant to feed Layla and our two goldfish Roman and Vladimir, which they did for most of the time we were away except the last day.  We get a message from Justin saying “We can’t feed the pets today”.  I was just like “Well thanks a fucking lot - we don’t get home until 11pm and by then our cat will be starving and so upset at us”.   We get home, my poor Layla was meowing like crazy, the fish saw us and went into a frenzy because they were so hungry.  So we fed them and then saw the state of our house.  Now I knew that they would be using our place sometimes because a)we’d had 40 degree days in Melbourne and we have airconditioning; and b) our apartment building has a pool that they could use to teach their baby to swim.  So no sweat.  But don’t come into my house and move shit around without putting it back.  I wouldn’t do it to your house, so don’t fucking do it to mine.  Everything on the coffee table was gone and moved to the bookshelves - I get it, they have a baby who puts everything in his mouth, but geez when you’re about to leave, put shit back!  Especially on the last day you’re coming over.  I left the house fucking spotless when we went, so I could come home to a clean house and not have to worry about it.  But then I come home, at 11:00-11:30pm, and I have to clean, then get up at 7am.  Fuck That.

Anyway, that’s my rant and rave - I’ll be posting again soon, hopefully!

OH and I hope you like the new layout :)
